We're building an amazing team.

Chess Club eye

We have no current openings, but don't let that stop you from reaching out.

Do you name your layers? Do you think math and design can co-exist?

We’re on the hunt for a Graphic Designer/Production Artist that has strong typographic and layout skills, knows the ins-and-outs of print and digital production, loves attention to detail, and finds joy in well-organized files.

If that describes you, you might be the icing on our production cake, or donut, or cookie, and we want to take a bite.

About the job:

  • Collaborate closely with the creative team to understand project requirements and translate conceptual designs into production-ready artwork.
  • Execute and refine design concepts to produce print-ready and digital assets, ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on artwork, including proofreading, image and color corrections, file optimization and prepress preparation.
  • Retouch images to improve quality, build and extend backgrounds, etc. both in print and digital formats.
  • Implement efficient production processes and workflows to streamline design deliverables and meet project timelines.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure accurate production and delivery of materials, including print proofs and press checks where needed.
  • Maintain organized files and documentation, including version control, asset libraries and production specifications.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of design standards, processes and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies and production techniques to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of design output.

About you:

  • An amazing portfolio showcasing multiple types of projects and solutions, including digital and print samples.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the production artist field within an agency, prepress, print shop, or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
  • Expertise across not only the Creative Suite mainstays like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign but a familiarity with other applications as After Effects, Animate, Adobe XD, Keynote/Powerpoint, Word, and Canva among others.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a keen eye for visual aesthetics and the ability to maintain consistency across multiple projects is a must.
  • Excellent understanding of print production processes and printing techniques, color theory, typography and image optimization is preferred.
  • Experience with digital content, such as social media, online advertising, and email campaigns is preferred.
  • A desire to learn more and contribute more outside of your area(s) of expertise.
  • Demonstrated humility and a strong sense of collaboration
  • An optimistic attitude and an inventive, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • A tireless desire to learn, driven by curiosity.

About Chess Club:

Mothering prosperity through curiosity is what we’re here for. By challenging conventional mindsets and trusting in strategic optimism in each other, our clients, and our audience, we create and grow together, start and finish together, and always find a way. While we offer all the services you’d expect from a creative agency, it’s how we do what we do that makes us different.

We’re art kids, wordsmiths, divergent thinkers, leaders, office DJs, animal lovers, craft beer aficionados, motorcycle enthusiasts, and the cool kind of nerdy. We’ve been around the block. We’re dripping in new blood and fresh ideas. We’re more fun than your real friends but have your back just as boldly. We’re a small-town girl with big-city swagger. We’re chocolate cake for breakfast. We’re a perfectly aligned stack of freshly printed papers. We’re hungry—and you’re going to want a seat at our table.
