Join the Club

We're building an amazing team.

Chess Club eye

We have no current openings, but don't let that stop you from reaching out.

Sales, Project, Operations, Marketing… whatever manager you used to be Chess Club is looking for you.

Become an Account Director at our club.

About the job

You’ll get to work with us in Chess Club’s beautiful office in the heart of Saskatoon.

Your role and responsibilities will include:

● Planning, coordinating, and implementing marketing plans

● Overseeing account teams who are developing campaigns

● Ensuring campaigns are on time, within budget, and achieve strategic brand objectives

● Developing new accounts and new opportunities for existing customers

● Strong product knowledge and interpersonal skills when interacting with customers

● Anticipating clients’ needs and analyzing trends for future opportunities

● Managing and maintaining healthy client and internal relationships.

About you

Do you love people and constant challenges? Here are a few things you should be able to say “yes” to:

● Do you have 3-5 years of experience in Account Direction or Project Management?

● Do career and personal growth get you up in the morning?

● Are you a Positive Patty who doesn’t let obstacles get in the way of meeting your objectives?

● Do you get excited about a well-organized Excel sheet?

● Do you have the ability to perceive, use, understand, manage, and handle emotions?

About Chess Club

We keep you curious. We’re here to inspire ongoing curiosity in each other, our clients, and our audiences. While we offer all the services you’d expect from a creative agency, it’s how we do what we do that makes us different.

We invest in relationships because we understand clear communication, trust, and respect are invaluable. We forgo the fluff and cut right to the good stuff. We’re cross-trained, so our process is streamlined. We’ll give it to you straight and loop you in early. We know a healthy culture yields better results—and ours is in the best shape of its life.

We’re art kids, wordsmiths, divergent thinkers, leaders, office DJs, animal lovers, craft beer aficionados, TikTok famous, motorcycle enthusiasts, and the cool kind of nerdy. We’ve been around the block. We’re dripping in new blood and fresh ideas. We’re more fun than your real friends but have your back just as boldly. We’re a small-town girl with big-city swagger.

We’re chocolate cake for breakfast. We’re a perfectly aligned stack of freshly printed papers. We’re hungry—and you’re going to want a seat at our table.

About applying

Sound like you’re the one we want? First, send your best dad joke to larry@chessclub.co.

Dot co, not dot com. That’ll be your first test. If you generate a giggle, we’ll ask for a resume and references.

Remember, this is an ad agency—we think we’re cooler and quirkier than everyone else, so show us that side of you! Clever, hilarious, or a little out there—great ideas keep our world turning.

Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. (We’re busy, okay?)

And your mom said you’d never make money as an “artist.”

Chess Club is looking for the next great Art Director to join our team—and oh, what a team it is. You’ll see. Maybe.

About the job

We know you know what an Art Director is, but just so there’s no confusion, responsibilities in this role include:

● Working closely with Chess Club’s account managers, strategists, copywriters, and other designers

● Understanding what drives our clients to get up in the morning, their strategic positioning, and who their target audience is

● Delivering big, beautiful conceptual ideas at a campaign level across digital, video, and traditional print channels

● Storyboarding to help sell those ideas

● Leading creative client presentations of internally approved concepts

● Taking those concepts and turning them into fully realized work

● Staying on top of creative trends, competitive work, and industry best practices

In a perfect world, you’d come work with us in Chess Club’s beautiful office in the heart of Saskatoon. We know once you have a chance to hang out here, you’ll love it, but we’re open to different arrangements if needed, including remote work—as long as you live in Canada and are willing to work when we do.

About you

You love design? Cool. Are you any good at it? Here are a few things you should be able to say “yes” to:

● Do you have 3-5 years of experience in branding, advertising, and/or visual communications?

● Can you think in campaigns and fire off ideas that spark curiosity?

● Can you collaborate and contribute to a team, problem solve on the fly, and meet tight deadlines without crying too much?

● You know how to use InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and XD, right?

● Have you played around with programs like After Effects, Premiere, Resolve, and Figma?

● Are you the type to drool over type?
